Why Should I Choose Sedation Dentistry?
Dental phobia is not a matter to be taken lightly, and we take your anxiety and fear seriously. Along with our compassionate and gentle approach to your care, we offer a life-changing solution for our fearful patients by incorporating sedation dentistry into our appointments. Sedation dentistry not only calms nerves and helps you relax, but can help you have positive dental experiences and even enjoy coming to our office. If you have been unable to visit the dentist due to fear, you are not alone. We are here to help you feel calm and safe, with help from our advanced sedation dentistry options. Along with offering nitrous oxide, our experienced dentist, Dr. Bang Phan, is certified in IV sedation to improve your comfort and confidence during treatment.
Local anesthetic is used to numb a specific area in your mouth, such as for filling cavities. It is oftentimes used in conjunction with other sedation dentistry options for a painless experience. Local anesthetic commonly takes a few hours to wear off after your appointment, and you may find it difficult to speak clearly or eat.
Nitrous oxide, or “laughing gas,” is administered through a comfortable mask that covers your nose. You will remain awake and responsive for your treatment, but in a very relaxed and euphoric state. Nitrous oxide will keep you feeling calm throughout your appointment and has no aftereffects after your mask is removed.
IV Conscious Sedation
Intravenous (IV) sedation is injected directly into a vein, usually in your arm. IV sedation is a deeper level of “sleep” sedation and allows for a more custom level of sedation, though you are awake. If you choose IV sedation, you will require a short recovery time at our office and will need to be driven home.
Better Dental Experiences, Better Dental Health
One of the greatest benefits of IV sedation dentistry is the empowerment it brings our patients. Many patients who have had overwhelming, stressful, or fearful past dental experiences find that sedation dentistry helps them overcome their anxiety or phobia. In turn, patients who routinely attend their dental appointments without fear improve and sustain better oral health and reduce their risk for costly dental work resulting from oral neglect.
